Can use rubbing alcohol to clean eyeglasses?
Most of us have rubbing alcohol on hand or some cleaning solutions for eyeglasses feature rubbing alcohol, diluted with water, to remove difficult residues.
They work for many people in small quantities, but in general, they are too harsh for most eyeglasses frame and lenses, so we recommend not using alcohol-based cleaners.
While cleaning your glasses, it’s also essential to stay away from products that feature chemicals. Some of the everyday cleaning products you should steer clear of include ammonia and bleach. With their high concentrations of acid, lemon juice and vinegar should be avoided, too. Since it’s not a good idea to use rubbing alcohol by itself to clean your glasses, you may be wondering what is safe to use.
The easiest way to clean your glasses is to use running water and a gentle dish soap. Massage the soap onto each lens, rinse, and dry with a microfiber cloth.
